Sunrise at Heceta Head Lighthouse
This photo was taken of the Heceta Head Lighthouse on the Oregon Coast. In the late 1890s, the light atop the 56 foot lighthouse was seen 21 miles from land and was rated the strongest light on the Oregon coast. Today, the lighthouse viewpoint is among the best on the coast for spotting whales during the winter and spring migration as well as sea lions and many species of birds.
